Why late night conversations feel personal

“Are you currently missing someone, or anyone, in that matter?”

I contemplated for quite a while. I couldn’t bring myself to point out a specific name. But I can describe the feeling and longing I felt when that question is raised.

Late night conversations. Curious as to why late night conversations feels personal. So I did a bit of research. A tiny bit.

First. At night, you feel relaxed. Relaxing makes conversation flow smoother. Hence, honest conversations are exchanged. Honesty, my friend, attracts trust.

Second. It is our own private and personal time. So, if you would actually interact with others, it means you’re giving that person an access to your private and personal space.

Third. You tend to reflect a lot on life at night. So, deeper topics are usually talked about at night. When that happens continuously, you will show your fragility and vulnerability, which leads to attraction — may it be in a romantic or non-romantic way.

I think that’s why, for me, late night conversations are the best. I think that’s why, for me, sometimes it’s not the person you’re missing, but rather the feeling of your trusting, exchanging thoughts, and letting people in your space.
