How I Plan to Achieve My Goals in 2021

Do you have certain things you want to achieve in 2021?

To be frankly honest, I was an on-the-boat kind of person. I disliked going out of the boat. Why would anyone deliberately sacrifice comfort for something? Well, why won’t they? I realized how thrilling and exciting stepping out of the boat is. This year, I’m planning to step out of the boat more often.

Why? I realize that there are just so many things I want to achieve. But I can’t just sit down and wait for miracles to happen. I won’t sit and wait for miracles to find me, but instead, I will look for it and position myself for it to easily find me.

I want to achieve great things, and this is how I plan on achieving them.

Start with what I have on my hands.

I know I can always start approaching something big with small things. I take time to look within myself, what are the things I am equipped with — what are my resources. A laptop. A phone. An ability to communicate. An ability to solves problems. An interest in literature. It could be anything. I’m starting from there.

Most of the time, we look for the resources we don’t have. Like, that camera we don’t have to start making how-to videos, or the network we don’t have to start expanding the business. Well, although we don’t have a camera and the perfect network, we do have a phone with a camera and a list of contacts we can make use of.

Do what I got to do, no matter how hard.

We are our own worst enemy. Indeed, most times I am only a thought away from taking my very first step towards my goals. Truth be told, I will never know which step will significantly contribute to my ultimate success. But one thing is for sure, if I never take any step, chances are I will still be right where I am even a year later.

No matter how hard it is, we just got to take that step. It might not be a transformative and significant step, but it still is a step and every step counts. Know that no one can be successful with one big step only. Not even Elon Musk. So, take your time to step towards your goal no matter how small or big that step is. Hey, don’t judge a step by its size.

Being confident that I am able.

I used to think that being confident is a stretch when I couldn’t even find a single thing in myself that’s worth the success. I don’t feel like I got that success factor in me. But well, if I want to spend my time thinking and doubting, it’s my loss. And I decided, I’m not losing, not anymore.

Being confident is a hard thing to do, but possible. I believe that confidence is built. That is why it’s important to start with the things I have, it builds trust. It builds trustworthiness between me and myself, and it is beneficial for building perseverance. Trust me, it’s impossible to persevere if we have never felt confident in the things we’re doing. True, confidence might come and go depending on the situation we’re in. But hold onto the feeling of confidence while it last. That’s one way to keep us going in the long run.

I am truly excited for 2021, are you?
